Dérives
A Series of Psycho-Geographical Walks in Cork City 
Dérives is a series of lunchtime walks accompanying ArtTrail 2009. These walks will investigate the city from a range of artistic, historical and psycho-geographical perspectives, re-examining the urban environment through subjective experiences, narrative explorations and conceptual approaches.
Led by artists and artist collectives, Dérives is intended to challenge and explore the urban
landscape and our perceptions of the city. All walks are free and will start at 1.10pm. Walks last approx 50.mins, Places are limited so arrive early!

Danny Holcroft (UK)

This project runs throughout the festival, and a guided tour takes place on
Wednesday, November 18th, 1.10 pm

Glasgow-based artist Danny Holcroft will be ‘Getting Lost’ around Cork City over the
course of Cork ArtTrail. As part of Dérives, Holcroft will lead a ‘tour group’ of members
of the public, wandering throughout the City and working his way back to the starting
point with the assistance of local residents. Due to his “sieve-like memory and inability
to remember any verbal instructions”, Holcroft will encourage residents to write or
draw directions, accumulating a series of hand-drawn works along the route.
